Nuclead manufactures lead alloys for bulletsThis was a busy week at Nuclead and Sharp Manufacturing; here are some of the projects we worked on.

We shipped Lyman #2 Bullet metal alloy, to an ammunition fabricator in Helena, MT. The Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook, now in its fourth edition is the standard text book for hand casting bullets, it includes molds and cast bullet designs for many rifle and handgun calibers, from Lyman and other manufacturers. Lyman #2 bullet metal alloy, described in the hand book, is one of the standard lead alloys used to hand craft bullets. Lyman #2 consists of 90% Lead, 5% Tin and 5% Antimony. The Tin aids in the casting process and the Antimony increases the bullet hardness to prevent barrel leading.

Nuclead shipped lead wool to two aviation fabricators for propeller fabrication one in Opa-Locka, FL and the other in Winnie, TX. As part of the propeller assembly process all of the propeller blades have to be balanced as part of a set. Lead wool is inserted (compressed) inside the blade balance tube of the lighter blades so that all the blades weigh the same.

For our extensive inventory of lead products we shipped lead foil and roll into fiber cores to form lead coils. This Product is primarily used for a sealant type tape on oil rigs; to join drill pipe.
