Additional Lead Sheet Applications

lead sheet metal and lead foil from nuclead

Lead Sheet Experience

Sheet Lead metal is extremely versatile. Lead sheets provide resistance to corrosion from atmosphere and salt water; provide protection from radiation and offer significant noise reduction.

Lead Sheet comes in various thicknesses depending on the application. Thinner sheets can be cut with scissors and molded into various shapes and used to lead-line containers to store radioactive samples or for corrosion resistant gaskets and coatings.

Thicker sheets can be built into variety of structures, such as walls, doors, window frames and cabinetry to provide the necessary shielding protection and as excellent barrier material to block the transmission of sound, and for isolating equipment from mechanical vibration. Lead sheets are also laminated with plywood or gypsum to form lead sheetrock or lead plywood for these applications.

Nuclead has extensive experience with all forms of sheet lead for many industries and government applications, including the following recently shipped items.

Offshore Oil Rig applications: Nuclead has supplied tons of lead Foil for oil well service applications. The lead foil offers corrosion protection and is designed for the harsh salt water environment that is experienced in this industry.

Defense contractor submarine application: Sound-proofing components that are used in the Low Cost Conformal Array (LCCA) which is a passive planar sonar array mounted on a submarine’s aft sail structure.

United States Department of Energy: Shielding components machined to very close tolerances.

Nuclead also has extensive experience, shipping lead sheets and laminated lead sheetrock for use in the medical and nuclear industries.
