The Lead foil is to be used for several applications throughout many different industries
Cambridge, MA January, 20 2015 – Nuclead a leading manufacturer and distributor of custom and standard lead products for research, industry and consumers announces the delivery of numerous orders for lead foil, delivered to customers throughout the United States and in Canada.
Nuclead can supply most lead foil orders from its large in stock inventory. Lead foil can be supplied in thicknesses ranging from .0020″ to .0310″ in lengths up to 200 feet long. Lead foil is supplied rolled on heavy duty cores with available end caps for protection during shipping.
Lead foil can also be laminated using pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA), to backing material such as vinyl. Nuclead can also stamp, laminate or assemble the lead foil into any application.
Lead Foil Applications
Lead foil is used in many different industries and applications for example:
Medical applications: Lead foil is typically used to provide patient and technician with radiation protection. Vinyl may also be attached to the lead foil to prevent the technician or patient coming in contact with the lead.
Universities and testing laboratories: Many universities and testing labs use lead foil in their research and development efforts. It can also be used in non-destructive testing.
Oil and petroleum industry: On drilling platforms, lead foil is used to protect equipment against the severe salt water environment. Lead foil can also be used for weight testing.
Naval vessels and military applications: Similar to the oil rigs, lead foil can be used for equipment protection and for radiation protection.
Entertainment Industry: Nuclead has also shipped lead foil for use in a proprietary magic trick!
Machine shops: Many machine shops who do not have Nuclead’s lead products inventory to draw on order lead foil and other lead products for their own value added activities.
Lead Foil Shipments
Here are some of Nuclead’s recent lead foil shipments:
Medical
- Picked and shipped .002″ thick pure lead foil from in stock inventory. It was sold to a Medical Pharmaceutical & Immunodiagnostics OEM in New England.
- We Fabricated and shipped lead foil with Pressure sensitive tape and black vinyl. This was sold to a medical equipment manufacturer in Randolph, VT. The PSA tape is used to stick to their product where shielding is required. The black vinyl is used as a cosmetic appearance on the outside at the operators work station. This also protects the operator from contact with the lead.
- Pick and ship for in stock inventory: .002″ thick pure lead foil. Sold to a contract manufacturer for the pharmaceutical and immunodiagnostic industries in Portland, ME.
- Thin lead shielding foil. Applied one side with Pressure sensitive adhesive, and the other with black vinyl. Sold to a medical equipment manufacturer for x-ray shielding.
Research
- Picked and shipped .005″ lead foil, sold to University in St. Louis, MO for research and development
- Picked and shipped lead foil from in stock inventory; Sold to Washington University in St Louis for research and development program.
- Picked and shipped lead foil; sold to MIT Lincoln Laboratory, Lexington, MA for a research and development project.
- Picked and shipped pure lead foil. Sold to a non-destructive testing laboratory for comparisons testing in Richland, WA
Oil and Gas
- We fabricated and shipped, 2,500# of lead foil tape, for an oil drilling company in Claremore, OK.
- Fabricated and shipped, pure lead foil, .005″ thick. Sold to a Natural gas company for weight testing.
- Lead foil tape was sold to an oil rig manufacturer in Evansville, WY
- We also fabricated and shipped and order of lead shielding foil which was sold to a civil engineering firm in Kingston, ON, Canada
Military
- 1/64″ lead foil sold to a local ship repair company. Installed on a US naval vessel in Dry-dock on the Northeast coastline. Products were needed in less than 24 hours, and we were able to provide this service to them.
- Nuclead fabricated and shipped lead foil for shielding purposes for a Lockheed Martin order. The lead shielding is used to protect the operator from radiation emitted during their operations of this unit.
Entertainment
- Saw and ship from inventory some lead foil, to the entertainment industry company that is working on a magic show production in Sanford, FL. A second order of lead foil was delivered to the magician for this proprietary magic trick in Sanford, FL
Value Added
- Pick and ship from in stock inventory: .002″ pure lead foil. Sold to a machine shop in Titusville, FL for its own value added services.
