Uses for Lead Wool
The main uses of lead wool has been for the sealing of joints. The advantage of Lead wool over other metal seals, such as solder, is that is a cold hammered seal that does not require heat. The process known as caulking uses iron tools to compress the lead wool into the joint thus forming a tight seal.
Lead wool is also used as a balance weight in propellers and windmills, since it can be packed into a small area to ensure even weight distribution.
Lead Wool is also used in some radiation shielding applications and for some specialized batteries
Uses for Lead Foil
Lead foil is useful for radiation shielding and soundproofing applications, often back using vinyl attached using pressure sensitive adhesive.
Lead Oil is also used lead foil is used to protect equipment against the severe salt water environment on oil drilling platforms and other maritime applications.

- Pick and ship from in stock inventory: Lead Wool per QQ-C-40 in 5 lb waterproof bundles. Sold to Airbus for rework of some propellers.
- Pick and ship Lead Wool per QQ-C-40 in 5lb waterproof bundles: Sold to a reseller in Indiana for resale in the aerospace industry.
Lead Foil Shipments
- Fabricate and ship Lead foil: 0.005″ (+/- 0.0005″) x 12.00″ x 50#: Alloy: Conforms to ASTM B29; UNS L51121; >= 99.90% Pb and shall be manufactured using lead comprised of very soft lead. Rolls were provided with the same lot numbers. Packaged with End Caps required to prevent damage. Sold to a Lockheed Martin sub-contractor for lead shielding with 3M PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) laminated to one side.
- Extrude pure lead and ship 2,000# of Pure Soft Lead foil: 0.005” x 1″ x 200’, pure lead; *COO*: United State of America: HS code 7804.11; per NAFTA
- Affidavit Certificate on file with Nuclead’s Existing customer. This item is used for pump manufacturing as lead gasket material.
- Fabricate and Lead line: 0.010″ Lead foil with black vinyl laminated to one side and PSA with release paper on the other @ 4″ wide x 30′ long. Sold to a medical equipment OEM in New England for Radiation shielding.
- Fabricate and ship: Lead foil: 0.005” x 1″ x 200’, pure lead on a 3.50″ diameter fiber core. *COO*: United State of America: HS code 7804.11; per NAFTA Certificate. This lead tape is used in the mining industry and ship to a plant in Indonesia. The lead materials are used in slurry pumping processes of waste.
- Pick and ship Pure Lead foil: 0.016″ x 12.00″ x 240.00″; Package with End Caps required to prevent damage during transit. Specifications per 99.85% Pb: Per (L51123); QQ-L-201 Grade D. Sold To Lockheed Martin for it Space Science division research.
