X-ray Glass applications
X-ray glass is glass or acrylic sheets that contain an evenly distributed amount of lead which allows the sheet to attenuate x-ray radiation and thus provide protection to operators and technicians that need to be able to see the area that is being irradiated.
Typical applications for x-ray glass include:
- Viewing windows into x-ray rooms in medical, dental and veterinary practices.
- Viewing windows in laboratories, radioactive storage and other nuclear facilities.
- Protective screens on radiation testing equipment and protective googles in similar applications.
- Airport security x-ray machines that are used for the pre-flight inspection of passenger luggage.
X-Ray Glass Shipments
Here are some of Nuclead’s recent lead x-ray glass shipments:
- Nuclead fabricated and shipped lead x-ray glass with lead lined window frames. This was shipped to a local urgent care medical center in Pennsylvania for their x-ray facility.
- We also fabricated and shipped another order of lead x-ray glass with lead lined window frames. This order was shipped to a Veterinary clinic in New York for their x-ray facility.
- Replaced a piece of broken x-ray glass damaged by customer during installation. This product was re-ordered and shipped to a medical facility in Mill Hall, PA. We expedited the order and shipped it in 2 days to help this customer out with a significant problem.
- Nuclead provided custom x-ray glass that was cut to customer specifications. The order was for 1/16″ lead equivalency lead glass and was sold to a Property management company in Florida, to replace an existing piece of broken glass.
- A general contractor in Massachusetts, who is fabricating an x-ray room for a third party, ordered and received a custom cut piece of lead x-ray glass.
- A Lead x-ray glass window with lead lined window frame was cut, fabricated and shipped to a doctor’s office for their x-ray room in El Centro, CA
- Nuclead shipped an order of custom lead x-ray glass, for use in research experimentation at a large university. The x-ray glass was required to be modified to meet specifications provided by the customer.
- We also cut and shipped lead glass to a dentist office in Pulaski, NY.
- Nuclead cut and shipped, from in our stock inventory of lead x-ray glass, an order which was sold to a general contractor in Gold River, CA
- We also fabricated and shipped a large construction package to a general contractor who is working on an x-ray room in Newington, CT. The package consisted of lead x-ray glass, lead lined sheet rock, lead lined window frames, and lead flashing rolls.
