Company is able to produce lead shot to exacting and repeatable specifications

Cambridge, MA July 10, 2014 – Nuclead a leader in the manufacture and distribution of custom and standard lead products for all applications, announces the recent delivery of several lead shot orders to customers in the United States, Canada and Israel, the deliveries were fabricated from Nuclead stock and customized per customer specifications.

Lead Shot consists of small balls of lead of varying sizes, depending on the application.

The main use today is as a projectile in shot guns, though lead shot can also be used for lead ballast, scuba weight belts and speaker stands. In addition, split lead shot is used in fly fishing. The split shot is crimped over the fishing line to add a measured amount of weight.

Lead Shot can also be used in cooling systems due to its relatively high heat capacity and low thermal conductivity at low temperatures.

Recent Lead Shot deliveries

Here are some of Nuclead lead shot shipments to destinations throughout the world:

  • Nuclead fabricated special lead shot to exacting specifications for an individual in Duxbury, MA. This individual is active in competitive shotgun matches where the size, weight and alloy consistency is of paramount importance.
  • Nuclead also picked from in stock inventory reclaimed lead shot, this was then shipped to Israel for used as lead ballast in ships and sailing boats. Small sizes of Lead shot are often used as ballast as the shot can be poured more like a liquid and does not have to be completely round. Lead shot is excellent for trim ballast applications, keel centerboard ballast fills and lifting keel applications.
  • Nuclead picked and shipped a quantity of reclaimed lead shot, for a motor sports team in Bellingham, MA. The lead shot is to be used as handicapping weights for auto racing competitions.
  • Nuclead fabricated and shipped 1,000 pounds of lead shot to a police ordnance company in Markham, Ontario in Canada. The shot was fabricated to customer specifications for a new experimental, non-lethal shot gun.

Lead shot sizes

Nuclead carries a complete line of lead shot in all sizes and lead alloy compositions, including the following designations.
Larger lead shot comes in three sizes: B, BB, and BBB. Smaller lead shot is available in sizes 7½, 8, and 9, with applications ranging from sporting clays and skeet shooting, to non-waterfowl hunting at progressively shorter distances.

The larger bird shot sizes (i.e., 6, 5, and 4) are mostly used in turkey and pheasant hunting applications where legal. Finally, buckshot is simply lead shot formed to larger diameters. Sizes range in ascending order from size B to Tri-Ball.

Nuclead can produce lead shot from lead alloys of lead and antimony to any custom specification and relative hardness. Lead can also be Nickel plated to increase shot penetration capability.

All of these lead shot products to both standard and custom specifications are available to ship from stock from Nuclead.
