Lead sheet in Hospital X-ray roomThis week we had a big shipment week at Nuclead, getting out a lot of orders that had been recently placed with us.

Among the orders shipped by Nuclead this week were orders for lead foil, lead wire, lead wool, lead diving weights and lead sheet. Many of the orders we receive can be shipped from stock – Nuclead has one of the largest inventories of lead products in the USA. Additional Nuclead has extensive manufacturing and machining capabilities that allow for the fabrication of any custom lead shielding products or other lead products.

Here are some of the details of these week’s shipments

  • Shipped lead foil Items .010″ thick with black vinyl laminated to one side and PSA with release paper on the other to a Pharmaceutical customer in Vermont for radiation shielding. This lead foil order was received a couple of weeks ago and was previously reported in this blog. Lead Foil is a form of lead sheet that is thin enough to be easily cut and formed using shears. Lead foil can be stamped or formed into almost any shape so that it can be placed around any area that needs protection.
  • Shipped Lead wire: 3/8″ Diameter x 50 lb. spools to a machine shop in Florida. Lead wire is used for a variety of applications such as lead anodes, lead buoy weights, and lead ballast.
  • Shipped Lead Wool: 5 lb bundles: to an alternative energy company in Canada. One of the main uses of lead wool has been for the sealing of joints. The big advantage of lead wool is that this is a mechanical process is performed cold. Lead Wool consists of chemical grade lead drawn in long, fine strands twisted together into rope. Lead wool averages about 2-½ ft. to one pound.
  • We shipped large order of various sized lead diving weights to a Yacht Yard in Sag Harbor, New York. These are traditional Scuba Weights for use on nylon weight belt. Sold by the pound, Nuclead’s high quality pure lead diving weights can be painted or coated if required.
  • Shipped Lead Foil: .015″ x 36.00″ x 36.00″ to a stamping house in Puerto Rico
  • Shipped Lead Sheet 1/32″ x 36.00″ x 241.25″ to an Electrical Supplier in Ohio, for radiation shielding protection in hospitals. Lead sheets can be used to effectively attenuate certain kinds of radiation because of lead’s high density and high atomic number. Lead sheet is very effective at stopping alpha rays, gamma rays, and x-rays.
