Nuclead announces numerous recent orders for Lead Glass and Lead Acrylic

Lead glass is used to provide radiation protection in applications where a viewing window into the area is required.

Cambridge, MA January 30, 2017 – Nuclead a leading manufacturer and distributor of custom and standard lead products for research, industry and consumers announces the delivery of numerous orders for x-ray lead glass, delivered to customers throughout the United States.

X-Ray lead glass windows are designed to provide a transparent and protective shield against X-Ray radiation.

Lead Glass can be used in any facility which requires protection from x-ray radiation. Leaded glass and X-Ray glass is typically mounted into a lead lined frame built into a door or a wall. High lead content gives optimum shielding against radiation from equipment in the 100 to 300kV range.

Here are some of the applications for which Nuclead has delivered lead glass and lead acrylic:

  • Viewing windows and insulating glazing for X-Ray rooms, CT scanning rooms, hospital operating rooms, mammography workstations, dental offices, veterinary clinics, radiation therapy rooms and screens for medical diagnostics
  • Nuclear industry applications are observation windows at radioactive storage stations, nuclear fuel development and reprocessing plants, and for applications near nuclear reactors.
  • Protection windows in laboratories and material testing rooms and Lenses for safety goggles
  • Protective glass for Airport Security X-ray scanners – also known as full body scanners – and protective glass for luggage scanners.

  • Lead glass for a 150-kV application for a New England glass company hired by a nationally based contractor.
  • 150 kV lead glass (24”x34”) for a new radiation installation in a radiology department in North Carolina.
  • Lead glass (13”x17”x150kV) for use in a Minnesota hospital, required to execute a repair in the x-ray department.
  • A restoration project in Minnesota required lead glass: 24.00? x 24.00? x 7-8mm x 1/16?Le x 150kv; for a MRI & X-ray department. This was sold to a general contractor in New York state that was doing the work.
  • A hospital in Michigan is building a new installation in its x-ray department. They required a piece of 150 kV lead glass (13”x17”) as part of the construction.
  • An urgent care center in California is installing an x-ray room, the contractor needed a piece of lead glass 13”x25” for 150 kV absorption level.
  • Nuclead supplied as a package the Lead radiation shielding window frames containing lead glass. The window as prepared for customer assembly. The X-ray Lead Glass was 24? x 24?; x 4.875” and was sold to a Medical firm in Wisconsin for a new x-ray room.
  • 12” x 24” lead glass was cut and sold to a Massachusetts construction company working on a medical center renovation.
  • A general contractor in Texas is fabricating a new radiology department and they needed a piece of lead glass cut to size and specification. This was supplied by Nuclead.
  • Another contractor this time in Houston Texas was installing an x-ray room at a local hospital Nuclead supplies the lead glass.
  • Nuclead cut and shipped a piece of leaded x-ray glass to an X-ray original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in Illinois for use in a new prototype equipment that they are developing.
  • Saw and ship Lead Acrylic: 18.00? x 24.00? x 0.3mm Pb x 8mm thick; sold and shipped to a research department in Canada for one of its major Universities.
