West Bridgewater, MA, 6/30/2020 – Nuclead Inc., a leader in lead materials and lead products announces the shipment of several orders of Lead sheet, to customers with military and medical applications.
Lead soundproofing
Because lead has a high density and is also soft and malleable, it is a highly suitable material for soundproofing applications.
The high density means that the Lead sheet will absorb sound far more effectively that material such as plaster or glass.
The soft and malleable properties mean that the lead will not radiate sound and is difficult to be set into vibration, unlike a more rigid material such as steel.
Recent shipments
- Fabricate and ship release 3 of 3 of lead soundproofing component parts for Lockheed Martin MS2-Radar Systems, for the US Navy’s’ Los Angeles, Sea wolf and Virginia Class submarine platforms. The LCCA is a passive planar sonar array mounted on a submarine’s aft sail structure and integrated with the Acoustic Rapid Commercial Off-The-Shelf Insertion AN/BQQ-10 sonar system. LCCA represents a significant new submarine capability that will enhance situational awareness, tactical control and collision avoidance in crowded littoral and dense shipping environments. The array will be integrated with AN/BQQ-10 sonar systems.
- Fabricate special lead soundproofing materials. Sold to a firm in the North East that provides engineering and custom soundproofing to defense contractors.
- Produce Lead Soundproofing sheet: (1.15#) 0.021″ x 48.00″ x 240.00″; Re-roll mill fabricated product onto one solid fiber core. The items were delivered to a government sub-contractor that uses the Nuclead lead, to fabricate custom soundproofing wall for government entities per order. The Noise control solutions are used from a full range of industry, from aircraft to marine, medical and transportation.
- Nuclead to lead fabricate: Lead Soundproofing sheeting: (1.15#) 0.020″ x 48.00″ x 240.00″; Re-roll mill fabricated product onto one solid fiber core. Sold to a Government sub-contractor that makes special soundproofing project for the US government agencies. The Nuclead lead products are used for these lead assemblies.
- Pick Lead sheeting: 1/16″ x 96.00″ x 291.00″ (24.00′). Delivered and sold to Barksdale Air Force Base for portable x-ray equipment. The lead rolls will be used as x-ray protection of their own design.
- Supply Cut Lead sheeting: 1/8″ x 48.00″ x 291.00″. Sold and delivered to an electrical contractor in Florida for protection on high energy power cords omitting radiation
- Ship Cut Lead Sheeting: 1/16″ x 48.00″ x 48.00″. Delivered one ton to a general contractor in Tennessee for radiation shielding in a hospital reconstruction.
Produce a large construction material order for a medical center in N Las Vegas, NV. The lead construction materials included: Lead Sheet Rock, 48.00″ x 96.00″: 1/32″ Lead Sheeting, Bonded for installation purposes only, to; 1/2″ sheet rock; Lead Sheet Rock, 48.00″ x 96.00″: 1/16″ Lead Sheeting, Bonded for installation purposes only, to; 1/2″ sheet rock; Lead Seam Filler Tape for Corners, Utility, Cut-outs &/or Flat seams: 1/32″ x 1.25″ x 50 lbs. spool.(Approx. 220’/spool); Lead screw shield(s), 1/32″; Lead Glass: Provided for customer prep &/or assembly. - Size to specifications and package for will call; Lead sheet: 1/16″ x 36.00″ x 84.00″. Sold to a local metal fabrication firm that use the lead shielding for production of x-ray shielding panels.
- Fabricate and ship high quantities of Lead sheet: 1/16″ x 24.00″ x 48.00″. This lead sheeting is used as radiation shielding in medical facilities that are under repair. Nuclead ships these lead items to a general contractor in Texas that repairs hospitals and medical facilities across the nation, from fire, floods and any other disasters.
