West Bridgewater, MA, 3/31/21 – Nuclead Inc., a leader in shielding technology and lead materials announces the shipment of several orders of Lead Ballast and Lead Shot

Lead has a high density and is resistant to corrosion, as a result lead is often used for the ballast in ships, boats and sailing vessels. Lead ballast is either external ballast, which is built into the keel or is internal ballast which can be in many forms including lead shot, lead balls or lead ingots.

Nuclead can supply any quantity up to 40,000 lbs. (up to 100,000 lbs. for special pours) in any material from 99.99% pure lead to any percentage of alloy, including antimony, tin, zinc, bismuth, and copper.

Lead Balls and lead shot are also used in other ballast applications, electroplating and hunting.

Here are some of Nuclead’s recent shipments of Lead Ballast.

  • Fabricate custom ship lead ballast per special sizes, using Pure lead Pig Ingots: 20.5″ x 3.25″ x 3.00″ with handles @ 64 lbs. each & 3.25″ x 3.00″ x 7.00″ @ approx. 28lbs each. This special order was shipped to a marina in New Jersey.
  • Pick and ship one ton of Pure lead Pig ingots, approx. 40#-70# ingots (approx. size: 3.00″ x 4.00″ x 20.00″, loaf shape). Sold and delivered to a heavy equipment repair company in Missouri, used for counterweight ballast in heavy equipment.
  • Fabricate and ship over 20 tons of ship ballast using Pure Lead Pig ingots, Approx. 40#-70# ingots (Approx. size: 3.50″ x 4.00″ x 22.00″, loaf shape). The ballast is used for local commercial fishing companies to meet the US Coast Guards requirements.
  • Pick and ship Scrap Lead solids &/or sheet: For Misc. Weight/Ballast or Re-melting: Misc. sizes & grades. Sold to an excavation company for heavy equipment ballast.
  • Pick and ship tons of Scrap Lead: Chips, dross, solids, reclaimed shot &/or shavings; For Misc. Weight/Ballast: Misc. sizes, alloys & grades. Sold to a mining equipment OEM in Pennsylvania, requiring the reclaimed lead to fill cavities as counterbalance.
  • Pick and ship Re-claimed Lead shot/balls: For Re-loading, Ballast, Re-melting, or Misc. weight/Ballast: Misc. sizes & grades. The lead for sale for this local customer will be used for boat ballast.
  • Pick and ship for in stock inventory, Re-claimed Lead shot/balls: For Re-loading, Ballast, Re-melting, or Misc. weight/Ballast: Misc. sizes & grades. Delivered to a bottling plant in the Mid-West that requires the heavy lead products for machinery ballast.
  • Pick Re-claimed Lead shot/balls: For Re-loading, Ballast, Re-melting, or Misc. weight/Ballast: Misc. sizes & grades. Sold to a Forging company in Maine that needs economical lead for its refining process.
  • Pick and ship Re-claimed Lead shot/balls: For Re-loading, Ballast, Re-melting, or Misc. weight/Ballast: Misc. sizes & grades. Sold to large event company that required lead ballast for trade show booths.
  • Pick and ship Magnum Lead balls: 2.6 mm diameter (#7) (.100″ dia.) 2,000# buy; and deliver to a plating house in New England that uses the lead materials for lead anodes.
  • Pick and ship Magnum Lead balls: 2.6 mm diameter (#7) (.100″ dia.) 2,000#. Sold to a plating house in New England, that uses the lead shot as sacrificial lead anodes. The tolerances and lead alloys must be perfect for this DOD application.
  • Pick and ship Magnum Lead balls: 2.6 mm diameter (#7) (.100″ dia.) 2,000#. Delivered to an electroplating house that uses the lead balls as lead anodes for it processes.
  • Fabricate New Lead balls: 2.0 mm diameter (#9) (.080″ dia.). Sold and shipped as lead shot ballast to a Rail Equipment Company for box car ballast in Texas.
  • Pick and ship tons of Magnum Lead balls: 2.6 mm diameter (#7) (.100″ dia.). Shipped to a plating house in New England for special electroplating processes for Sikorsky Helicopter
  • Pick and ship Lead balls: Ref 1.20 mm (#12 – .047″/.040″dia.); Sold to a self-driving automobile OEM in California for counterweight purposes of the device. The Lead shot has to be small and comply by weight and dimensions, as to maintain the proper weight in a very small cavity.
  • Pick and ship Lead balls: Ref 1.20 mm (#12 – .047″/.040″dia.); Sold to a sportsman’s club in California for use by its members.
