Lead Nuclear Casks
Nuclear casks are heavily lead shielded containers used to store and or ship radioactive materials. Only the lid of the nuclear cask is a separate piece, a screw thread is machined into the lid of the lead cask and into the vessel itself allowing for a radiation tight seal. A high standard of manufacturing is required.
Spent nuclear fuel shipping casks are used to transport spent nuclear fuel used in nuclear power plants and research reactors to disposal sites. Each shipping container is designed to maintain its integrity under normal transportation conditions and during hypothetical accident conditions. Casks are designed and tested to withstand crashes, fire, water immersion and puncture.
Nuclead shipments
- Fabricate per customer blueprints: Pure Lead Storage Cask w/Lids. These radiation casks were shipped to a national laboratory for the transport highly radioactive materials. The order was a rush and Nuclead fabricated and shipped 4 casks in less than one week.
- Nuclead removed old lead shielding and adhesive in a customer supplied nuclear cask. We the machined new lead shielding and laminated it into the nuclear cask; this was for a customer in Cocoa, FL
- Fill customer supplied nuclear cask and machine to blue print for an engineering firm in Ipswich, MA
- Fabricate and ship Lead brick: 3% Antimony: 1.75″ x 3.00″ x 4.00″; sold to a machine shop in Pennsylvania for its own value-added services.
- Fabricate lead casting and ship: “Nuclead” Brand, Cast Interlocking 1.50″ x 4.00″ x 12.00″ brick, chevron style: Sold to a reseller in Nevada for re-sale.
- Fabricate and ship several orders of “Nuclead” Brand, Cast Square Edges Lead Brick: 2″ x 4″ x 8″. Sold to a radiation detection OEM of portable NDT x-ray equipment in New England.
