X-Ray Shielding
X-Ray shielding for applications include medical and dental offices, MRI machines, back scatter imaging machines and product imaging for quality assurance purposes.
Almost any material can act as a shield from gamma or x-rays if used in sufficient amounts. Shielding reduces the intensity of radiation exponentially depending on the thickness, however the required thickness depends on the material used for the shielding. Lead is six times more effective than concrete, nine times more effective than packed dirt and 18 times more effective than water for stopping X-ray radiation. Also, Lead is malleable and easily worked.
Nuclead Shipments
- Fabricate and ship Lead Sheetrock, 48″ x 96″: 1/64″ Lead Sheeting, Bonded for installation purposes only, to; 5/8″ sheet rock. Sold to a general contractor in New England for x-ray shielding. this contractor is building a new radiology room and required large quantities of this item for the project.
- Fabricate and ship several lead x-ray shielding materials. Sold to a general contractor in new England working on a new hospital x-ray facility.
- Fabricate per customer blueprint specifications: Portable X-ray box with lead doors and Lead Glass: 5/64″ Le: 11.50″ x 11.50″ x 7-8mm x 1/16″Le x 150kv. This lead x-ray shielding is used for a customer to x-ray their products before shipping as part of their QC process
- Fabricate and ship several back-scanner x-ray shielding components items and sold to a OEM of this technology. This equipment is to be shipped later this quarter to its customers overseas.
- Nuclead fabricated and shipped a special machined vinyl backed lead sheet, 1.8mm thick; for a x-ray shielding project, this was delivered to Westborough, MA
