X-rays and Gamma rays are high frequency electromagnetic radiation, that can severely injure or kill people and animals and destroy electronic equipment.
Lead has a high atomic weight, stable metal, this allows it to be an effective shield against X-ray radiation. Depending on the intensity of the X-ray radiation, Lead sheets may need to be several centimeters thick to be several centimeters in thickness in order to provide sufficient heavy nuclei to absorb the radiation.
Nuclead is an experienced provider of sheet lead for radiation shielding applications such as X-ray room shielding, medical imaging rooms and MRI shielding and carries a large inventory of x-ray grade lead sheets.
In addition, Nuclead manufactures custom radiation shielding assemblies for x-ray machines and MRI machines, and other sophisticated applications.
Here are some of our recent shipments
- Fabricate Special Lead foil: 0.008″ and 0.005” (+/- 0.0005″) x 12.00″ x 50# per UNS L51121. All the lead items had to be produced from the same lot number for a defense sub-contractor. The thin lead sheeting is used as radiation shielding for flight purposes.
- Lead Cast “Nuclead” Brand, Cast Square edges Lead Brick: 2.00″ x 4.00″ x 8.00″. sold to a Diagnostic Solutions Center for lead x-ray shielding blocks.
- CNC machine per customer specifications, x-ray shielding. Delivered lead products to a mobile screening OEM. The customer will use the lead items for final assembly of advanced X-ray inspection and radiation detection systems for ports, borders, military, high-threat facilities, and critical infrastructure all over the world. The sophisticated lead items are machined within aerospace tolerances for the most maneuverable, versatile, and successful cargo and vehicle screening system on the market. It clearly reveals threats like explosives, drugs, currency, dirty bombs, radiation, and trade-fraud items such as alcohol and cigarettes—even in high-throughput environments like border crossings and security checkpoints. All items are quality controlled and certified per Nuclead’s ISO procedures.
- Fabricate Lead Item 0.010″ Lead foil with black vinyl laminated to one side and 3M PSA with release paper on the other @ 4.00″ wide x 30′ long. Fabricated lead materials to customer written specifications. The lead x-ray shielding will be used for an equipment OEM. they use the special lead products fabricate by Nuclead as radiation shielding for X-ray equipment sold to medical facilities worldwide.
- Laminate lead sheeting to 6061-T651 Aluminum Sheet: 7mm (0.275″) x 12.00″ x 12.00″. Sold the lead radiation shielding to a government Dept of Physics in New York for testing and research.
- CnC Mill 99.999% pure lead sheeting for a national laboratory. The machined lead products were fabricated to tolerances under + / – 0.001” and certified the same. These lead items sold of multi blueprints were shipped over night per the customer’s request. The laboratory uses the Nuclead lead products on a regular basis for radiation shielding during their research and experiments.
- Laminate Lead foil: 8.00″ x 120.00″ x 0.041″ thick, With 3M 97057 PSA. The lead for sale was delivered via Nuclead Trucking to a Scientific Imaging Company in New England. The lead items will be used as radiation shielding for research and development purposes.
- Extruded special lead tubing 0.625″ id x 0.110″ wall x 72.00″ lg. Deliver via Nuclead Trucking to a Non-destructive Testing equipment OEM for their manufacturing process. The lead x-ray shielding sold will protect the operator and equipment from harmful x-rays.
